Our model, Jordan, is way more than just a pretty face. In addition to holding the “Head Mermaid Model” position for Wings Hawaii, she has extended her artistry and immersed herself in the intricacies of photography. Her photos focus on the bringing the simply beauty of nature to your attention.

Jordan came to Maui from Boise, Idaho. She is a 24 year old who loves to travel any chance she gets. Using her Midwest connections, she began modeling for a local clothing store. It was that gig that brought her to the attention of the Wings women, and thus blossomed an amazing artistic relationship.

It takes a team of people to sell jewelry and clothing. Jordan plays an integral role in branding for Wings Hawaii. Jordan has spent hours upon hours in front of a camera, modeling mermaid goodies for all of North Shore Maui and beyond to see. We at Wings Hawaii love to see our model growing and finding a new way to express herself.

Recently, Jordan has decided to take her turn behind the camera. She is finding her voice in more than her own personal body in front of the lens. Her motivations behind beginning her artistic journey are pure. Jordan wrote, “I think I am mostly drawn to the honesty of film. The idea of capturing a moment in time and making it tangible is pure magic.”

 On the subject of choosing analog film rather than digital, Jordan is quoted, “When shooting analog photography, the film meets you halfway, creating a totally unpredictable effect. You get what you get, without the manipulation that is easily achieved with a digital camera.” And we are only seeing the beginning of Jordan’s extension into this creative realm. “A moment captured on film fills me with a sense of nostalgia and makes me feel close to home.”
