We are so excited about our latest collection!
Created by Samantha Howard, Wings Hawaii founder and lead designer, the Summer Staycation collection features some of our ever-popular, best-selling shapes, refreshed with new prints, new materials, and new colors!
What began as a drawing exercise on Sam’s iPad became this collection’s original screen-printed fabric design: a checkerboard quilt print with ulu and plumeria, available in turquoise and marigold colorways.
Her inspiration was to create something with aloha print vibes, but a little different from the norm. She wanted something fun and versatile, with a pattern that both locals and visitors would all like. (We think she nailed it.) “And I love checkerboard because I’m from the 90s,” Sam laughs.
And we’re super stoked on our new ramie fabric from Bali. What’s ramie? Glad you asked. Similar to linen, ramie is a natural fiber from a nettle plant. It’s durable, breathable, luxurious, and known for its strength – almost six times stronger than cotton. It doesn’t shrink, and gets even better with time.
Here at Wings, we’ve always been very intentional with the natural materials we use. We’re proud to carry on our eco-conscious principles with this sustainable fabric. And as always, all of our original designs are hand-sewn by our amazing seamstresses in our Haiku studio.

“I’m most excited about us rolling out new original fabric! And this is the first time we have had slinky retro pocket shorts. Most of our retro shorts have been in a twill or corduroy. The new ones still have the elevated surf/street/tailored look, but with a breezy, easy-to-move-in fabric.” – CJ
“The new ramie fabric we are using is simply divine. Natural fibers tend to feel better, breathe better, and wear well over time. Most people are familiar with linen, which is made from flax. Ramie is made from nettle and has a similar softness, but doesn’t seem to wrinkle as easily. So this season, I’m excited about everything ramie!” – Kat
