Living in Pauwela, I have watched Wings Hawai’i grow since their move to Maui. I met Samantha, Melody, and Becky when I was 12 years old and I have been inspired by their motivation and style ever since.
When I graduated high school I had somewhat of an idea about what I wanted to do with my life. With my passion for art and interest in business I began my path as a marketing major. Coming home from my first year of college, I was planning on getting a summer job in retail. But when applying to Wings Hawai’i, I was offered something even more beneficial to my future: an internship.
With an open, enthusiastic mind I started the behind the scenes work for Wings Hawai’i. From editing campaign photographs to wiping down the studio doors, my experience at Wings Hawai’i both educated and humbled me. They introduced me to a different work ethic and an ’Ohana that is constantly encouraging new ideas and opinions. I was able to let my creativity flow whilst collaborating with other’s ideas, producing personal touches to each creation. I am always in complete awe seeing the unique and one-of-a-kind products Wings Hawai’i creates on a day-to-day basis. From the jewelry to the swimsuits, everything is either handmade or remade. Meaning that every piece of merchandise
has been touched with Aloha. The fact that I had a hand in some of these creations makes my internship much more significant. The most rewarding and motivating part, however, was seeing the edits I created on the Wings Hawai’i’s media sites.
Over the course of my internship I have learned that to be successful you need a great deal of patience, responsibility, perseverance, and most of all: a dream.
As my summer draws to a close, these lessons will inevitably help me as I pursue my future. I currently plan on finishing
school with a Bachelor’s in Business with an emphasis in Marketing. From there I am going to see where fate takes me. Prior to Wings Hawai’i, I had no surefire idea of what I wanted to be once I finished school. After my experience here, I can honestly say that that I want to be a Content Strategist. Creating campaign ads and all the other behind the scenes work that I have done for Wings Hawai’i has opened my eyes to a brand new passion. As I honed my photo editing abilities and creative eye, I have acquired skills in time management and teamwork.
As hands-on and educational as my classes are, I would have never been able to learn these talents without the help of Wings Hawai’i.I have been truly blessed to stumble upon this amazing opportunity. This whole experience has only encouraged me to further myself in the marketing world and I could not be more grateful to the remarkable founders of Wings Hawai’i. They saw potential in me and by taking me under their wing, they allowed me to grow as a person.

Tourmaline is a very popular stone for jewelry makers. Revered for its variety of colors and hardiness, tourmaline has been used in jewelry making for centuries. All Tourmaline has the physical property of being pyroelectric, meaning that it can develop opposite charges at opposite ends of the crystal when heated or cooled, creating a kind of static-electricity effect.  Tourmalines are well-known in metaphysical circles as wonderful crystals for healing and protection.  They are excellent for balancing the hemispheres of the brain, clearing away blockages and transmitting negative energies.  Tourmalines work well with all of the Chakras, and promote compassion, empathy, sympathy, and self-confidence.

WATERMELON TOURMALINE: Green and Pink Tourmaline form naturally together to create the stone that is known appropriately as "Watermelon" tourmaline.  Watermelon Tourmaline is a bit more difficult to find than other colors which makes them special. Watermelon Tourmaline functions as a combination of male and female energies, both Yin and Yang together in one crystal.  It can help to inspire both creativity and practicality.

PINK TOURMALINE: Pink Tourmaline, also called Rubellite, can remind you that you must love yourself, to be able to truly love another. Protective Pink Tourmaline is said to attract friendship and promote sympathy for others. Pink Tourmaline brings cognitive awareness and experience of Universal Love. It is a very positive crystal, and is supportive of those who work with it, bringing strength during any trials in one's life. It has balancing properties which help one to move away from extremes, and into more equitable emotional and intellectual perspectives. Pink Tourmaline opens and brings a higher vibration to the Heart Chakra. Sensitive types enjoy Pink Tourmaline for its loving way of enveloping one in unconditional love.

GREEN TOURMALINE: Like all Tourmalines, Green Tourmaline is a metaphysically protective stone which is said to balance and harmonize the Chakras. Physically, Green Tourmaline can help with ailments of the heart and immune system, and promotes general good health.

BLACK TOURMALINE: Black Tourmaline is a very popular stone in metaphysical circles, having many uses. Supportive Black Tourmaline is used for protecting one's energy field against negative vibrations, and also for drawing negative energies away from a person. It can have a calming effect when needed, grounding flighty or scattered energies into the earth. Those who suffer from negativity, frequent worrying, and/or OCD can work with Black Tourmaline to help heal these issues. Meditation with Black Tourmaline can enhance the integration of insights and visions into one's daily life.

Responsibility, creativity, organization, and an open mind are all major
elements I have been exposed to during my awe-inspiring internship at Wings Hawai'i. From being surrounded by the positive and innovative people who all have visions in their mind that are brought to life, to experiencing the hands on aspects of the business myself. Not only have my eyes been opened to the vast array of oppurtunties among fashion, but it also taught me that with    perserverance, a vision, and an open mindset I can create anything of my own.
I met Samantha Howard simply because it is a small small world. However, I never would have thought it would lead me to the recognition of her amazing self made business and partners that modeled Wings Hawai'i into the orginal and inspirational company that it is. I began an internship with the goal to introduce myself to new passions, learn new styles of working and further myself in the fashion world.  However, what I received was much more than I ever envisioned.
In addition to learning organizational skills, sewing and cutting fabrics, jewelry making, editing, photography, website design, and modeling, I have been surrounded by positive encouraging beings whose imaginations run wild as they create anything from almost nothing, and expand and grow themselves in addition to their business everyday. I will utilize my experiences and knowledge of each component of creating and running a business, to developing any dreams of my own by taking away the guidance and tools taught to me only at Wings Hawai'i.
Exploring different outfits through fun themed shoots, bring every component together for a unique look into the Wings style.
